About this role

This role is fully remote and designed to offer guided support and real-world experience to a student or early-career professional. Perfect for building experience and networking. No resume is required and the role is not compensated.

Curastem is a nonprofit building AI-powered mentorship and career guidance for people navigating education and work with limited support. As a Product Management extern, you will help explore user needs, think through product ideas, and contribute to improvements that support real students, mentors, and partners.

You will have meaningful autonomy to own small, well-scoped pieces of product work, collaborate with design, engineering, data, and GTM, and contribute to product decisions that directly affect real users.

What You’ll Do

  • Work with engineering, design, and business teammates to help define and build small, focused product improvements

  • Support lightweight user research and competitive research to inform product decisions

  • Help draft and refine simple product requirements, feature specs, or success metrics

  • Participate in parts of the product lifecycle, such as ideation, scoping, testing, or launch support

  • Use AI tools to explore ideas, generate early prototypes, or test product concepts

  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to balance technical feasibility, user needs, and impact

  • Participate in mentorship, training sessions, and learning discussions throughout the externship

  • A student or early-career professional interested in product management or product thinking

  • Comfortable breaking down ambiguous problems into structured pieces

  • Clear written communicator who values shared understanding

  • Curious about how products evolve through iteration and feedback

  • Thoughtful, organized, and comfortable managing scoped responsibilities

  • Able to work independently while incorporating feedback

  • Ability to communicate written and spoken language in English
