People Come First
At Curastem, our respect for human rights starts with our dedication to treating everyone with dignity and respect. But it doesn't stop there.
We believe in the power of our services to empower and connect people globally—and that organizations can and should be a force for good. Achieving this requires innovation, hard work, and a focus on serving others.
Our human rights policy guides how we treat everyone—from our clients and employees to our business partners and communities.
Designing opportunities for growth that are accessible to everyone and make a positive difference.
Our Commitment to International Human Rights Standards
We are committed to respecting internationally recognized human rights in our operations, as outlined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (collectively, the “International Bill of Human Rights”), as well as the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work. Our approach is based on the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights.
Everywhere we operate, we aim to act in compliance with applicable laws and in accordance with our commitment to respect internationally recognized human rights principles. When faced with conflicting requirements, we seek to comply with applicable law while also finding ways to honor our commitment to respect human rights principles.
We conduct due diligence to identify significant human rights risks through assessments and through channels we maintain with stakeholders, including civil rights groups, human rights experts, governments, and United Nations bodies. We work to mitigate risks, seek to remedy adverse impacts, track and measure progress, and report our findings.
Embedding Respect for Human Rights
We’ve embedded respect for human rights across our organization—in the services we offer and in how we treat people. We are committed to continually assessing our progress and incorporating what we learn into everything we do.
Our Services
As an organization providing mentorship, guidance, and technology-enabled support, we operationalize our responsibility to offer services that respect human rights, empower individuals with useful tools and information, and enhance quality of life.
We do this with a strong commitment to security and user privacy, setting high standards for data protection and integrating privacy protections into all our services.
Hand in hand with user privacy is our commitment to freedom of information and expression. Our services help people learn, communicate, explore ideas, and make decisions about their futures. We believe in the importance of an open society where information flows freely, and we remain engaged even when navigating complex legal or regulatory environments.
We act responsibly regarding the content on our platforms, making it easier for people to access reliable information. We review content on all Curastem platforms against our guidelines and standards.
We work every day to provide quality services that respect human rights. At times, there are complex issues where we may disagree with governments or other stakeholders. Through dialogue and engagement, we seek solutions that best serve people—their privacy, their ability to express themselves, and their access to helpful services.
Finally, when it comes to connecting people, we believe in creating services that are accessible—because services designed for everyone should meet everyone’s needs.
How We Treat People
We’ve always said Curastem’s foundation is its people. That’s why we are committed to respecting the human rights of everyone whose lives we touch, including employees, contractors, mentors, and those we serve.
At Curastem, we do not tolerate involuntary labor, harassment, discrimination, violence, retaliation, or actions motivated by prejudice or bigotry. We require training that reflects our commitment to ethical conduct, honesty, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
We are also committed to advancing human rights and supporting efforts that promote fairness within our organization and through education-focused initiatives. We work to create a supportive environment and require training on bias, while striving to improve representation and accountability at every level.
Transparency and Communication
We want people to understand our values and the progress we are making.
We track and measure performance, apply lessons learned, and share updates publicly on topics ranging from privacy to operational practices. We engage with a broad range of stakeholders, including advocacy groups, community leaders, governments, nongovernmental organizations, and global human rights experts.
Our leadership has adopted this policy on behalf of Curastem and is responsible for overseeing and reviewing it. Leadership oversees implementation and communicates progress and significant issues internally.
We strive to lead by example and share our progress to support broader positive change. We also recognize that this work is ongoing, and we remain committed to continuous improvement.
